Relatives of missing persons staged a protest demonstration in Nallur, Jaffna on Thursday urging the UN to intervene and ensure that foreign judges
be appointed to any probe commission tasked to inquire into allegations of war crimes in Sri Lanka.
They said that they will make arrangements to submit this demand as an official appeal to the UN.
Demonstrators said that they are against Sri Lanka being given another two years by the UN to inquire into crimes committed during the course of the war.
Although two years have lapsed since the present government came to power, they said it is regrettable that no satisfactory answer has as yet been given by way of meaningfully addressing the issue.(ceylontoday)
