The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has decided to walk out on yet another protest demonstration next week alleging that the government has failed to provide an acceptable resolution to issues relating to the South Asia Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM).
The decision was taken at the GMOA's Central Committee meeting yesterday.
The Assistant Secretary of the GMOA Naveen De Soysa told Ceylon Today that the Executive Committee of the GMOA will decide on a day to launch their trade union action.
"We have decided to embark on a continual stoppage of work and protest at any given time in the coming week. This matter is under discussion with other trade unions and once they express their assent, the strike and protest will commence", added Dr. Soysa. The GMOA will adopt new mechanisms to stage their protest and stoppage of work, he added.(Ceylon Today)
