‘Eka Dawasaka Api’ highlights youth issues

Sithendra Senarathne, Chairman of the National Film Corporation graced the event as the chief guest and Ananda Bandara Dissanayake, Working Director of National Film Corporation and the Coordinating Secretary to the Minister of Public Administration and Management Ranjith Madduma Bandara took part as special invitees.

Amid much positive feedback after viewing the film NFC Chairman Sithendra Senarathne said that cinema has become a powerful vehicle for culture, education, leisure and propaganda. He noted that using cinema to address a timely issue in ‘Eka Dawasaka Api’ in an effective manner should be appreciated.

Award winning film director Anuruddha Jayasinghe who has written the screen play and directed the film said the film is based on a timely youth issue: committing suicide. He added that the film addresses a few other critical cultural issues that have hampered our growth together as one nation. His focus is on giving a positive message to the youth and the society as a whole.

Executive Producer Dr. Arosha Fernando who has already produced 16 films in a short span of four years said, “It’s an honour for me to produce the first film production of the leading communications provider Dialog Axiata.”

He further added that Dialog Axiata’s initiative to produce Sinhala films will give a boost to the local film industry.

Senior General Manager Global and Content Services at Dialog Axiata, Mangala H. Hettiarachchi said that the first film production of Dialog Axiata, ‘Eka Dawasaka Api’, will be screened in film theatres around the country as well as in the Dialog’s Vinode mobile app before the end of the year giving a new experience to the entertainment industry. He further congratulated and thanked the Executive Producer Dr. Arosha Fernando for initiating this project with Dialog Axiata.

Popular film artistes Pubudu Chathuranga and Nayanathara Wickramarachchi play the main roles of the film. A number of senior artistes including Veena Jayakody performed the other roles.
