With the next World Cup just seven months away, there has been a lot of preparations with regards to finding a perfect unit.

Bangladesh have been keeping a special eye on Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan following their injuries. Both are key players and their fitness is really integral for their chances next year.

Ahead of the BPL players draft, Khulna Titans head coach Mahela Jayawardene addressed a press conference.

Alongside, speaking about his team’s strategies in the upcoming season, the former Sri Lankan skipper also spoke about Bangladesh national team on the road to the 2019 World Cup.

Mahela stated that the Bangladesh team had to work hard if they aimed to win the most coveted title in cricket.

Speaking about the previous edition, the Bangla side had managed to defeat England and enter the quarterfinals. Even in the Champions Trophy last year, they reached the semis.

“Well, they have to work hard. They had come close in Australia and if they have to challenge themselves they have to improve.

I don’t think any team, even the qualifying teams, goes into the World Cup thinking they cannot win the World Cup, then they should not be there,” he was quoted as saying.

The former cricketer mentioned that it was important to have a winning mindset. According to him, it was difficult to set a goal if the team didn’t have the belief to do it. Jayawardene also went on to clarify that the mindset applies to every competition.

“Their attitude has to be there. So don’t now quote me and say Bangladesh can win. I said every team should have the mindset of winning the World Cup (when) they go to a competition.

Asia Cup is the same. If there is no mindset then the teams should stay at home.”
