10th European Film Festival in Colombo

The European Film Festival promotes cultural exchanges between Europe and Sri Lanka and aims to promote understanding between people from Sri Lanka and Europe. This will be the tenth consecutive year that the festival will be taking place in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The festival will be held from October 13 to 17 at the National Film Corporation Cinema, No. 303, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo - 7. The screenings will be held free to the public at 3.30pm and 6.30pm every day.

10 more SOEs to sign up for reforms

Ten more State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) have been identified to reform themselves for better financial discipline, transparency, accountability and performance by signing Statements of Corporate Intent (SCI) next year.

The Appropriation Bill outlining allocations to be made for each Ministry for year 2018 will be presented to Parliament on Monday, October 9 for its First Reading, officials said. Speaking to the Daily News, Finance Ministry Secretary Finance Dr. R.H.S.Samaratunga confirmed that the Bill will be first read out by Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera when it is presented to Parliament on October 9.
