More than 140 feared buried as landslide destroys village in China

At least 141 people were missing and feared buried after a landslide caused by torrential rain destroyed a mountain village in a southwest China’s Sichuan province, state media reported Saturday. The landslide hit the village of Xinmo in Maoxian county before 6 a.m. on Saturday morning, and 46 houses were buried, according to the Sichuan provincial government, state media news reported.


Showers expected to continue till Tuesday

The Meteorology Department says that due to active southwest monsoonal conditions, showery weather is expected during next few days (until June 27) in the south western part of the country and the possibility of continuing rain in the Kegalle, Rathnapura and Kalutara districts is high.
