The caparisoned ceremonial tusker, which carries the Sacred Tooth Relic casket, will walk along a cloth carpet, under an ornate raised canopy. After the Maha Perahera returns to the Maligawa, it will proceed to the Asgiriya Gedige viharaya to place the perahera casket there. The Devale Perahera will then proceed to the Getambe ferry point for the water cutting ceremony.
Following the water cutting ceremony, the Day Perahera will parade the streets of Kandy tomorrow (August 15) forenoon. The Perahera casket, which is normally kept in the inner chamber of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, is placed elsewhere only on the night of the final Randoli Maha Perehera.
