A media report had said that a case has been filed against the TNA for attempted secession.
“There was no such agreement with anyone providing for the division of the country. This is irresponsible journalism at its worst,” the TNA said.
TNA Parliamentarian and spokesman M.A Sumanthiran tweeted saying a 13-point document prepared at talks between a group of Tamil political parties, including the TNA and University students, does not provide for the division of the country.
“Moreover it wasn’t placed before Mr Sajith Premadasa or any other candidate for that matter,” Sumanthiran tweeted.
Both Premadasa and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa had refused to have talks with the Tamil parties based on the 13-point document.
Eventually, however, the TNA decided to back Premadasa at the election. (Colombo Gazette)
