Cabraal’s new work to protect local businessmen

Minister of State for Finance Ajith Nivard Cabraal has decided to appoint an Enterprise Development Advisory Council to advise on empowering local entrepreneurs to secure and connect them to the international market.

The 20-member advisory council has invited stakeholders who have a good understanding of the business sector in Sri Lanka to volunteer their services.

The purpose of this advisory council is to engage businessmen from the grassroots to cover every district from the grassroots level and make a practical contribution to securing them under the President's people-centered economic plan.

Cabraal said that macroeconomic factors needed to be addressed in the country and that the development of small and medium enterprises was of paramount importance.

He pointed out that with the corona epidemic situation, there is a focus on import substitutes, which is a positive factor.

He said that the ease of doing business should be protected and the focus should be on business opportunities that increase new employment opportunities.The Minister of State stated that necessary steps should be taken to bring in new money and that it cannot always be a burden on the foreign side.

Mr Cabraal said the country had $ 10 trillion in cash deposits and if it could be channeled into the stock market, the economy could stabilize.
