Banks should be adopting a more lenient policy in granting debt to develop local handicrafts - PM

Banks ought to be adopting a more lenient policy on granting debt to develop the local handicraft industry, stressed Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

In his emphasis, the Prime Minister added that in light of surging promotion for the industry, these products shall be marketed and used. Having the market, the industry would be more popular to engage, he added.

Therefore, these developments require a lenient policy from the banking side in the assistance of fiscal requirement, Rajapaksa said, attending an exhibition held in Waters Edge, Battaramulla yesterday (16).
