Galle Stadium should remain a Test cricket venue

Galle boasts of a rich cricket heritage with the first school match played at this same venue (then known as the famous Galle Esplanade) as far back as May 1888 between Richmond College Galle and All Saints College Galle.


Lanka should not lower their guard

Winning the first Test of a series and going one-up is what every nation strives for. But having achieved that and to lose the advantage of it is unpardonable. This is what Sri Lanka must guard against for in recent times they have this unusual habit of winning the first Test at Galle and then conceding the second Test to the opposition.


Sri Lanka captain, coach and manager suspended

The independent Judicial Commissioner, The Hon Michael Beloff QC, on Monday handed Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal, coach Chandika Hathurusingha and manager Asanka Gurusinha eight suspension points, which means the trio have also been suspended for the first four ODIs along with both the Tests against South Africa.


Spinners put Sri Lanka in command

GALLE, Friday: South Africa’s technique to survive against spin in the subcontinent was exposed to the hilt when they succumbed to their lowest total against Sri Lanka being bowled out for 126 in their first innings on the second day of the first Test played at the Galle International Stadium yesterday.
