The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) yesterday expressed support to budget proposals, particularly those related to development in the North and reconciliation. The TNA also informed that aside from the budgetary proposals, there was also a proposal to deal with those mired in debt in the North, and helping them out.
The TNA is planning on working with the Ministry of Finance with a view to formulating a plan in this regard. TNA MP, President's Counsel, M.A. Sumanthiran said that the proposal to monitor the implementation of budget proposals would have to be worked out. He added that specific requests made by the TNA and others pertaining to the uplifting of the livelihoods of ex-Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam cadres and women had been addressed in the Budget proposals.
"Budget proposals have given a lot of thought to northern development and reconciliation, amongst other aspects. This is positive," he explained.
