A group of World Health Organization (WHO) experts will hand over a report regarding Dengue today, as per the instructions of the Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.
According to the Health Ministry, a team of ten Sri Lankan specialist doctors was deployed to assist the Thai experts.
The WHO delegation includes dengue experts from Thailand and they inspected......hospitals where there is a high influx of patients.
Accordingly, the team will remain in the country for a week, and a new programme will be launched to combat Dengue, based on the findings of this team. According to the statistics from the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 80,732 cases of Dengue patients have been reported in 2017, of which 227 cases have been fatal. The highest number of patients is being reported from the Western Province of which more than 18,000 Dengue patients were reported from Colombo district.(Ceylon Today)
