Rakna Arakshaka Lanka and Avant Garde Maritime Services had been paying taxes more than Rs. 535 million due to the government regularly since 2011, Lakshman Kiriella, the Leader of the House said yesterday(03).
He made a response that questioned by JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Rakna Arakshaka Lanka and Avant Garde Maritime Services the previous week, said that the Ministry of Defence had given permission to Rakna Arakshaka Lanka to deploy sea marshals. This was established under the Ministry of Defence and retired military officers were taking part of this, Kiriella further said.
He emphasized Rakna Arakshaka Lanka commenced deploying of sea marshals and it was so in accordance with the provisions and standards stipulated by the International Maritime Organisation of the UN in the Circular MSC1/Circ/1443
Ranka Arakshaka Lanka had paid dividends to the Treasury too. The amount of dividends paid to the Treasury since 2011 exceeded Rs. 94 million, Minister Kiriella said.
