NFTH never a Teaching Hospital: GMOA

The GMOA today charged that the Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital (NFTH) set up to provide clinical training to SAITM students had never functioned as a Teaching Hospital and not even as a Base Hospital.

Singapore praises President's efforts to strengthen reconciliation

Singaporean Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan said the efforts made by President Maithripala Sirisena to strengthen reconciliation in Sri Lanka are laudable. Stating this when he called on President Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat today (July 18), he said that he would visit Jaffna tomorrow to donate books to the Jaffna Library and to sign an agreement to provide training facilities for the library staff. Singapore will also provide assistance to the Orthopedics Department of Jaffna Hospital.

But the Afghan girls competing Monday in an international robotics competition in Washington were clearly excited to be representing their nation.

The International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES) has organized a Sinhala Film Festival celebrating old and new films at the ICES Auditorium, 2, Kynsey Terrace, Colombo 8. The following films will be screening at 4.30pm.
