Joint Opposition (JO) Parliamentarian Bandula Gunawardena yesterday (25), tabled in Parliament a copy of the Sri Lanka-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (SLSFTA). The Agreement has come under fire from several trade unions.
Participating in the debate, over seven Orders under the Appropriation Act, Gunawardena asserted the Government is yet to provide a copy of the said FTA to Parliament. Therefore, he would like to table the FTA document for reference of fellow MPs, Gunawardena noted.
If anyone in this House wants to know the truth about this FTA, he/she can refer this document and that is why I am going to table it,” he said. Sri Lanka and Singapore signed the SLSFTA on 23 January. (MD)
